GRAND RAPIDS, MI Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park unveiled its 2016 concert lineup on Thursday, April 14. Starting with 80s pop/rock band, Tears for Fears on June 6, the lineup includes comedian Jay Leno, Motown legend Diana Ross, and concludes on Sept. 7 with a dual appearance by singer/songwriters Gavin DeGraw and Andy Grammer.


Detroit is the birthplace of techno and Motown, and maybe even punk rock. It's also a haven for raucous garage rock and influential hip-hop.


In one of D.C.'s social events of the year, the Kennedy Center pays tribute to America's immortal Motown hit-maker, the late singer Marvin Gaye , at the 2016 Kennedy Center Spring Gala on Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The evening's program celebrates Gaye's enigmatic and innovative contributions to the Motown sound during the peak of his career in the 1970s and 1980s, and his musical influence that spans generations.


The minute-long spot pans over shots from all around Detroit, prominently featuring the riverfront and other recognizable Motown spots like Belle Isle, The Belt, Campus Martius, Hittsville U.S.A., Motor City Brewing Works, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Fox Theater. A few neighborhoods get a nod, too, in shots of and urban farm and quick pans over a popular West Village block and the interior of several small restaurants in the city.


Mayer Hawthorne may live in Southern California now, but you can't miss the influences of his hometown of Detroit in his music. He's a fan of hip-hop, Motown, old soul and even Steely Dan, and it all comes out in his slick R&B.


St Annes Palace is to host monthly Saturday Night at the Palace evenings from this summer, featuring top line tribute acts. The sequence will begin with an Abba tribute act on August 13 and other acts booked for later in the year include The Angettes, a Motown-style female group, and Peter Kay, Cliff Richard and Rod Stewart tribute acts.


FOURTEEN musicians and a production team, all from Canberra and Cooma, will pay homage to the Blues, Soul and Motown sounds in the staging of a Blues Brothers and Soul Revue. LOCAL Blues and Rock musician, Ben Brikcius, along with Matt Elford plays rhythm and lead guitars in the show.


John Klezmer, also known as the indie soul musician KLEZ, has had an abundance of inspiration and insight from his mother, with whom he was always close. &#x201c;Growing up, my mom and her side of the family were super into music - soul, R&B, a lot of Motown and Soul Train, neo-soul kind of thing,&#x201d; Klezmer said.


A COLLABORATION of 14 musicians and a production team, all from Canberra and Cooma, will pay homage to the Blues, Soul and Motown sounds in the staging of a Blues Brothers and Soul Revue at the ANU Bar in Canberra this Saturday, April 9.
